I sold an item on Ebay. I shipped the item through USPS with a tracking number. It has been 14 days and the tracking information has remained the same. I believe USPS has lost the package. When the buyer purchased the item from me, I gave them the option of purchasing insurance on their package in case it was lost or stolen and they declined. Can they still file a chargeback against me and get their money back even though I have a tracking number that proves I shipped their item?

I was going to say that this smells fishy, but you say you've got a tracking number that proves their item was shipped, so you may have a case. But that's completely unfair to the buyer who might never receive the item but has already paid you. It seems kind of crooked of you to keep their money. Sort of.

Yes they can file a chargeback and I wouldn't blame them. Would you?Insurance is for YOUR protection, not the buyer's protection.Communicate with yout buyer and see what you can do on your end. Perhaps it's still in the post office that you went to?
