Default How safe are bank boxes?

My trusty bank has posted a sign that its insurance doesn't cover contents of safety deposit boxes. Neither does home owner's insurance; unless the contents are scheduled, e.g. jewelry, art, collectibles, which carries a premium. So how safe are these boxes? Movie thieves crack and loot vaults, but what are the risks in real life?

I don't keep all my silver in one place. I normally do , a portion in a safety deposit box with a one bank & another with other bank.
