Don't Americans pay taxes for emergency support? Then Bush spent all that money on his war contractors. So the government gets blamed for not protecting Americans. Logic.

The government has the duty to protect its people and it must be blamed for not doing projects to prevent floods.

Firstly, Americans pay for the Federal Support.

Secondly, if someone takes money (pay) for doing something and they don't do it right... they should have the money taken from them (or shouldn't be paid). The levies were made defective; also, it was well KNOWN that they were defective and could not withstand the flood that followed Katrina... THAT is why people are rightfully blaming the government for the resulting flood damages. Also, people that paid insurances are now fighting with the insurance companies... the SAME companies that were so eager to take their money for "insuring" the people that they now are trying to get away from paying... ! The insurance bigwigs lived off the fat of the land and they enjoyed the monies they made and NOW they're bulking about paying out what they had promised...? HA! The insurance company CEOs should ALL be hanged by their shriveled scrotum's until they rot off the ropes!

It's OK for Bush to let his cronies swindle and profiteer... it's OK for Bush to squander and mismanage taxpayers' monies while his cronies make huge fortunes and pay LESS taxes... but the poor should suffer STILL MORE...? Sheesh... hey, guy, what's wrong with this picture?

If everyone knew the levees were defective as a previous poster says, then why did they continue to live there knowing they were under sea level?

You find me the insurance company selling flood insurance below sea-level next to a defective levier and I'll find you the one person in the 9Th ward who can actually afford the insanely high premium.

They don't.

And it makes sense that when the government tells its residents they are safe due to levees they have built... then come to find out they lied.... the govt should have to pay.
