Default Flood insurance help?

Can you buy backwards flood insurance because our policy expired and a bank bought it for us so is there a way to buy 2months of insurance that's already passed?

No, you can't backdate the new flood policy but you can get a new policy and cancel the one from the bank. However, flood insurance premiums are controlled by the federal government so it should be the same premium. If it's not then the bank is adding a surcharge or the policy does not have exactly the same coverage.

no, can't backdate a policy. Why would you want to buy coverage for a time period that has already passed?

No, you can't.

Flood insurance is all highly regulated by the National Flood Insurance Plan. If you're not refinancing, not only can't you buy it retroactively, but there's a 30 day waiting period before it kicks in.

You have to pay the premium in full for a year. And if you cancel before the year is up, unless the house is sold, you don't get any money back.

No you can't backdate the coverage on a new flood policy. Go to your homeowners agent and take one out. You will then be able to cancel the one that your bank has force placed.
