Your question should have been, If you were to cry me a flood? And the answer is it would then be too late to get flood insurance, and the only covering you might get is water over you.

Flood insurance covers any overflow from any body of water. So if the river I cried overflowed then yes you would need flood insurance.

Man, if I could cry a river I'd be snapping up desert real estate and making some big bucks.

No need for insurance to flood
Cause all you will see is mud.

Just get a clean up crew from Cinderella
And spend all your money for an umbrella.

Mass balance demands you should first drink a whole river before you can cry out a river.

After drinking it from down steam, you can avoid flooding by crying out upstream.

This way you avoid flooding and the insurance expense.

You must be hilarious enough or sad enough to do the cry.

Ultimately it depends on if there is a FLOOD as a result of the cried river. Antd then causation will be an issue. To understand it, you have to keep in your head the difference between cause and effect. An insurance policy specifies what causes it will cover (usually called "hazards" or ?perils?). It also specifies what effects it covers (usually called "loss" or "damage") and which perils and losses are excluded from coverage. Those details are found in various sections of the policy language, such as ?Perils Insured Against? and ?Exclusions"

My guess is that somehow loss and or damages would not be covered due to the fact that what ever CAUSED the river, and hence flood.... is under exclusions.
