Default I Need to get a CT scan at the ER, but dont have Health insurance?

2 days ago i experienced what is known as a "thunderclap headache" while exercising. I am a 20 year old male and in good health. i routinely work out and never have gotten even a headache from exertion. It came on in a fraction of a second and felt as though a grenade had gone off in my brain. i collapsed and nearly blacked out from the immediate pain. after 5-10 min, the pain subsided enough to lay down and breath slowly. since then i have had a mild to heavy headache and becomes worse with excretion of strength or exercise. from what i have read this could be the sign of a cerebral aneurysm and is scaring the S**T out of me. I would have already gotten a CT scan at the hospital but my parents have been out of work for over 2 years now and can barely pay mortgage as it is. we got dropped from cobra, and a second health insurance shortly after we picked them up (i think it was Anthem Blue Cross). anyways, i wanted to know if there are any programs or things i can do so that i can get my head scanned and not have my parents or myself pay thousands of $ that it will cost?

Perhaps you could apply for Medicaid.

You wrote very well for someone who feels like your head has exploded. You seem to be thinking very clearly, that's a good thing. I imagine you must be in a lot of pain though. I think it's awful that health care isn't available to everyone the way libraries and fire departments are. So sorry you're going through this. I'm wishing the best for you!!!

You and I are in the same boat my friend. I've had this on going pain in my head for the past few months. To be honest it worked its way from my jaw and neck. I thought and kinda still think it is TMJ. Either way, I made the trip to the ER and asked for a CT scan. They didn't want to give me one. I'm pretty nervous about this too. My god mothers daughters husband just passed from a brain aneurysm a week ago and we buried him today. {Which is the main reason I answered this question.} He was 26. He was healthy too. He had been complaining about headaches and was given medicine for the pain but never got a CT scan. He passed away in his sleep and his son found him. The doctors said he must have went through a lot of pain. I plan on asking for a CT scan when I got back. I don't care what the cost. I don't have insurance either but to me its worth my life. I wouldn't want my parents to go through what my friends parents are going through.

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in Internet, for example here - health quotes.awardspace.info
